Trump weighs imminent strike on Iran as assassination plots surface

U.S. President Donald Trump stated on Saturday, October 24, 2026, that a military strike against Iran could occur "maybe tomorrow" (Sunday, October 25), while also indicating that a "big, beautiful" agreement remained possible. This comes amidst fresh intelligence warnings of Iranian plots against U.S. personnel, leading to reduced staffing at some diplomatic posts, and conflicting signals from Iran regarding diplomatic overtures.

  • Texas energy is the main driver of the state economy. Energy prices are one of the main concerns of this midterms, especially with global shocks from the Iran conflict. Expanding our footprint into both our already established oil industry and pursuing other energy such as nuclear in the long run will not only help Texas remain one of the states whose gas is below the national average, but also help with diversifying our energy infrastructure to avoid being at the mercy of a single shock or weather related disaster, and expand our ability to export industry both in country and to the outside world, taking advantage of the Hormuz closure

  • What the Iranian media chooses to do is up to them. However of the regime chooses to take our deal we're offering, which will only benefit Iranian people, their media will have no problem praising the regimes negotiation skills to boost morale on a peaceful line. It will however become harder and harder to convince an increasingly disillusioned population that their economy is strong and their leadership competent if Iran forces us to take further military action inside Iran, further weakening their failing economy and infrastructure.

  • Yes. Their own words. They explicitly said as much that the plots where a response to our talks of new attacks. Is it your job to report the news or just as dumb questions?

  • As a condition of the agreement. Whatever agreement is reached through the intermediaries that plots being halted will be included. If they violate that deal then we will rain down an ungodly fuking firestorm on their heads the likes of which they’ve never seen

  • First of all the wolves are an important thing to bring back but that problem is nowhere near as urgent at the problems posed by illegal immigrants. Also abortion is a contentious topic that will certainly not help in the polls.

  • The alienation of our allies is a necessary concession for the time being. The reason why there are predictions for escalations before the midterms is because Trump publicly claimed he planned to escalate the war in Iran after the midterms, so it is natural for Iran to want to strike before then, from which came questions of assassination plots. This chaos came from the publicity of the plan of the US. For this reason, I believe the US should be quiet about attacks against Iran, at least until both sides become involved, and at that point it would be advisable to include allies in strikes or in intelligence briefing.

  • Should we discover that Iran actually plans on initiating military action, and should all attempts at peace talks be refused, then we will absolutely strike them, as any country would. However until than, it is more important to refrain from attacking in order to preserve American lives that could be lost in more military conflict. Furthermore, the threat of retaliation should be enough to deter Iran from attacking. Them attacking would be a terrible decision, as it would result in further strikes by America, killing far more Iranians than Americans.

  • Any assassination plots would clearly be a part of Iran’s larger war effort. If we can assuage their concerns by removing the naval blockade, then we need to do that and end this pointless war. If the war ends, so do the assassination plots.
