It’s appropriate for America to tell Ukraine that they are raising gas prices in America by making these strikes in Russia. It’s also appropriate for Ukraine to flip us the bird for saying that because it insinuates that us paying higher prices for gas is too high a price to pay for Ukraine’s sovereignty as a nation. Unless we are siding with Russia on this war, we should let Ukraine take whatever actions they need to against Russia’s military operations. These strikes seem very deliberately targeting places that are critical to the Russian military, and are not crossing a line of attacking citizens. We should let Ukraine carry on and stay out of it.
It pressures Russia by allowing and supporting Ukrainian strikes, damaging Russia’s economy and making them unable to continue their war. This results in bargaining power that can be used to end the war during peace talks
These strikes are economically effective because we are carefully choosing targets that will hurt the Russian economy more than the opportunity cost of building and sending the missile at them
Taking down energy plants that burn oil for electricity or specifically attacking any military bases that require diesel for machines are both better options to keep the pressure on Russia. They can’t operate without electricity or their military bases.
Well we have to come to an agreement somehow. It isn’t fair for the United States to tell Ukraine to stop launching attacks on its most successful targets it has to let the rest of the world recover when it’s been facing its own war for years now. For prices to truly stabilize the conflict needs to be completed in the Middle East or massively expedite refinery work in Venezuela to provide relief there
They can’t afford to lose their refineries. It is as simple as that.
Ukraine has every right to attack Russian infrastructure when Russia has done the same to them. We can’t blame Ukraine and Russia’s conflict for gas and oil prices when we are doing the same thing in the Middle East.
