  • Grand Teton National Park is not an avenue for commercial economic activity nor for jobs creation. The point of a national park is to preserve it, not to create temporary contracting positions that will just destroy part of the park. I wouldn’t make arguments about protecting migratory species if it were a development outside a city. But this is a national park. The level of construction that would be necessary for an MLB game would have rippling disturbances to the wildlife there for years. Frankly any economic gain from a grotesque display of American commercialism inside a national park is likely to be undone by the years of damage that are likely to follow. This is obscene and irreverent.

  • Whilst I don’t think any event should be held at the national parks there is already a precedent. The white sands national park in New Mexico does a series of concerts through out the year with local artists that pull in people for the national park. The whole argument is the baseball game would disturb the land but if that’s the case why do we allow the concerts or other commercial events. One of the prospected spots for the temporary baseball game was a storage space in the national park and wouldn’t disturb the animals or land because it’s already being used for storage. Also the legality of it is unclear as they are only proposing it and nothing is set in stone. If the national parks don’t allow it, there needs to be strict rules for every national park.

  • A temporary game in a park full of wildlife can cause habitat loss for protected species of animals and plants

  • Because the original purpose of creating national parks was to protect them for future generations. Hence why the creation of the USFS and park service is known as the greatest good. Which turns my point to fires. Roads and power lines are hotspots when it comes to man made ignition sites. Building these will lead to more fire that will endanger the park, stadium and nearby towns

  • Every local business matters. But singling out this specific small area doesn’t make much sense. Sure this area might not get a boost in business, but even if we made the baseball field, you could say that we aren’t helping the town two towns over, or the town on the other side of the park. We aren’t directly hurting the businesses, we’re just choosing to keep the parks as they are, a public good for people to use, even if they can’t pay for it.

  • We want park impact to increase, so that more people appreciate the land and its beauty. This one-off event can do that by bringing more people to the park and awakening people to the beauty of the park, leading to more donations for preservation. The proceeds from the game can also go towards park preservation, making it a potentially short term risk for long term park gain.

  • I am just saying that we as a culture have decided that national Park should be protected and exceptions have been made before and It is the national parks that suffer the consequences. The national parks are not for our Short term business endeavors, which make money and Should instead be preserved for our future generations, who wouldn’t have to look back on the consequences of all the foot traffic all of the road traffic all the construction that is caused by this one event. If we allow this one event, then future business opportunities would be available on national Park land and that is not a good thing because someday we are bound to have someone try to do something on that land that Has less ecosystem wellness in mind.

  • This is part of our history already. Take the Native Americans for example. We promised to give them land and that it would remain protected and yet year after year we continue to take more and more away for buildings, pipelines, etc.
