Age and Term Limits for All Elected Officials
Age limits set a maximum age for holding office, while term limits restrict how long someone can serve. In the U.S., there are minimum age requirements for federal elected officials, but no maximum age limits. The President is limited to two elected terms by the 22nd Amendment, but members of Congress can be re-elected indefinitely. At the state level, 36 states have term limits for governors and 16 for state legislators.

Yes as the creation of the United States government already had minimum age requirements this sets a precedent that we can restrict who can be a representative by age. These limits are also not arbitrary nearly 90% of the public on both sides of the political aisle also support having age limits for the representatives. Finally age doesn’t equate to proper experience either with how fast technology can change the experience a person has with one sector of the economy can be defunct quickly
Great. The outcome we are all expecting with 18 year term limits for all positions is that politicians will have less opportunity to be bought by lobbyists and will have to respond more to the people.
you can still have tenured representatives without having 80+ year old career politicians
The country needs elected officials who represent the majority of people, which are younger than most officials. While there are some elected officials above this age that are effective, we see the majority being out of touch with what most of the country is experiencing now.
