The ties can be verified through our numerous intelligence assets and intelligence sharing programs with allied countries. We have teams of investigators working day and night to verify responsibility so as not to retaliate on a potential false flag or error and thus make matters worse by escalating the already existing tensions and wars
It doesn’t mitigate economic disruption. But we cannot sit idly by and try to put out each fire that Russia sends at us without putting out the source of the fires in the first place which is Russia. The hybrid attacks have already happened and we will deal with those effects as well, but for now we have to make it clear to Russia that they cannot continue these attacks, and any continued attacks will result in war.
A physical attack is easy for Russia to propagandize and can increase the resolve of the Russian people. While a cyber attack is harder to propagandize and frankly embarrassing for Russia
Hybrid attacks are tricky. The EU needs to take measures on all fronts: sanctions against aggressors, stronger cybersecurity measures, but also critically surveillance so that an attack that is made can be tracked to its place of origin. If Russia is going to attack NATO, make them do it in broad daylight.
I said if Russia keeps being aggressive to allied nations that France should retaliate with similar level threats like state back cyber attacks. The point I'm making is after retaliation (cyber attacks) the diplomatic approach should be do have back room talks focused on deescalation rather then let it spiral into a larger conflict than it needs to be
Escalating attacks on Russia is the best way to deter Russia. Germany had sown counter-measures after they formally decided the drone attacks on August 4th was done by Russia. Russian is still thinking about doing cyberattacks and drone attacks showing that restraint is a plausible option. The French should escalate attacks and convince NATO allies to join the fight.
I don’t believe that there can be such a thing as easing into a world war. By escalating the situation when in control now, this would leave us free of international conflict for years
