Elon Musk Unveils Flying Tesla That Jumps Over Traffic
Tesla, led by CEO Elon Musk, unveiled a redesigned second-generation Roadster on October 15, 2026, at a SpaceX test site in McGregor, Texas, showcasing its 'flying' capabilities, including jumping over other vehicles and driving upside down. The electric sports car, powered by SpaceX-developed cold-gas thrusters and a suction system, also claimed a 0-60 mph acceleration time of 0.81 seconds, with production anticipated to begin in 2028.

It feels like you aren’t even listening to what I’m saying, but let’s try one more time, alright? A crash occurring in a TESTING setting is not dangerous, but the purpose of the tests. We are trying to find the bounds of this technology, and how safe or unsafe it is. Any issues, like the crash, now have the opportunity to be fixed and re-tested. After sufficient tests (again, in safe, controlled environments), if there are still issues, or Tesla is not up to safety standards, they will not be allowed on roads. This whole process is the safest as can be while allowing technology to be freely developed without government tampering. Even if it turns out these cars are not safe enough for the road and are not approved, the tests serve to advance technology for potential future projects. All that to say, one crash, when testing the bounds of the technology’s capabilities (meaning that most likely the car was being pushed to its limits) does NOT in and of itself prove the car should be fully
No, I think you’re quite off base there. I am not saying that US innovation only happens on the roads. There are many many industries where we are always innovating for the Moore. I am saying that the roads are development. Move to China will not affect American innovation it might even prioritize smaller companies to push the limit limits on On transportation innovation without a large monopoly, stealing the spotlight
I'm trialing them before we release them. I said they have to be tested and proved they're safe before launched. That being said, I want to create a regulatory framework which makes it easy to test and implement. The ideal scenario is these are on the road and are safe. There's no reason we can't achieve both. Having products like this come out of America is exactly what America and capitalism is about: a free world where the beauty and magnificence of human innovation and ingenuity can truly flourish.
Any new vehicle is such a broad scope. Technology is advancing in such a way that new tech emerges, and we need to develop regulation and protections to make sure that this technology benefits the public and that we have the foresight to avoid costly downfalls. As a country, we pride ourselves on innovation, however so much regulation will be required to ensure that the public is safe with this new implementation, that I see the human governance in this case to be too dangerous to actively implement without rigorous testing and regulation. I believe that these vehicles can be implemented safely
Localities often have signs on the highways about restricting engine compression braking. If they already have the authority to restrict driving practices, then local areas that are worried about this can establish their own laws to strictly prohibit any noisy activities. This is not new.
The zones I’m aiming for are rural communities where you rarely see multiple other cars. The applications of blocked roads from natural debree or avoiding deeply flooded areas is necessary
Public road say try will be ensured by the rigorous testing and meeting of road safety regulations. Road safety regulations would also have to adapt aswell to the future world that is coming with flying cars. That is why these cars r not going to be everywhere right. Ow and they shouldn’t be, but in time when it has been tested to be safe, then they will be in the public
Look at the spaceX rockets. They are iteratively designed and will not fly with people until every procedure and last remaining issue is fixed. Same for the car, it will not be let loose in public until we are fully satisfied that it is safe to do so
